A Great Idea is Just a Start
Starting a business from scratch takes more than money. It takes initiative as well as a great idea that can transcend trends and make a large enough impact to keep your business running through tough economic times and picky consumers. When dealing with business loans, it is imperative that you are running your business correctly and using whatever support systems that are available to you in order to continue making and selling products or providing services that are used in the community. Business loans can be traditional or more modern such as the recent appearance of the merchant cash advance, which is an advance on future credit card sales. Since these are advances, there is no interest, but there may be fees and you sell these future receivables at a discount in order for the merchant cash advance company to make money on the advance.
Regardless of how you get the money you will need for the business; you will still need a great idea. You may have some ideas floating around that you think will do well, but simply need that extra push from an outsider to legitimize the idea. That is something we see every so often and you never know when you will bump into that one person who will do that for you and cause you to get into a great partnership with a great idea. Two women did just that when they met as bridesmaids at a friend’s wedding. Laura Darrah and Sheila Nazarian met at a friend’s wedding and happened to discuss their desires to start their own line of handbags, which came to fruition a short time later. Treesje is a company run by the women who are creating the latest and greatest handbags that are now being seen on the arms of A-list celebrities such as Britney Spears and Heidi Klum.
Both women had been mulling over getting into fashion design until the two met and had made some movements toward that goal individually. Sheila had parents who were already in the fashion design business and Laura had already received an MBA and had done some travelling overseas, picking up various modern, trendy handbags and wanted badly to get into the business of creating handbags, so their destiny was set, but the meeting at the wedding is what really set things into motion. The two took $1,000 each of their own money and started to make handbags that they would wear and use and went to trade shows to get the line started up. Nordstrom eventually picked their original designs up, so they went after more money from friends and family and have slowly expanded their business. Their colorful designs set them apart as many of the recent bags have been muted, while theirs are very colorful and are the center piece for creating a look for many of the women who buy their designs. They are hard workers and create the bags together to keep each other involved in the entire process, which has led to success as well as celebrity endorsement.
