Are Your Marketing Efforts Sufficient?
Small business owners need to know how to effectively multi-task. Not only are they in charge of the major aspects of their business, they often have to take care of even the smallest of details. This can be very difficult and there are aspects that may get ignored. This neglect can be preventing you from getting the sales you really need for survival.
One aspect of the business that is often neglected is the marketing plan. Most business owners spend long periods of time getting it ready and launching it, but do not often make adjustments when necessary. This neglect can be deadly as the world changes all the time and your marketing efforts need to be adjusted often.
Keeping your marketing plan active and updated can help you make the sales you want and expose you to new potential clients on a daily basis. If you just let it run and do not check it, it could be outdated quickly, hurting your overall potential in the marketplace, so remember to check on it and its effectiveness often.
In order to be effective, check the following:
Ancillary Products
Many customers know main products, but if there are other products you could use for up-selling, make sure that they know about them. Many businesses have ancillary products, but in some cases no one is aware they exist.
Old, Outdated Material
Pull all of your old ads when you place new one. Leaving up old ads can be confusing and send a message of complacency. Seasonally-themed advertising needs to be removed after the dates of expiration.
Catchy Ads
Make sure that all of your ads have a hook. A song or mascot can help people remember you and your product. If someone sings your jingle when they come in to buy, you know you are doing it right.
Sales Numbers
Check your sales numbers. If they are trending down, your marketing efforts probably need revamping. Slow sales mean that your ads are not effective and need to be redone; fresh and new is good for business in most cases.
Web Traffic
If web traffic is lower than before, a full refresh may be in order. Obviously, your web presence is not string and not many people are landing on your page. In these cases, use SEO, or search engine optimization, to increase your rankings and increase your Internet presence.
