Free Samples are an Inexpensive Way to Cultivate Your Brand
Once you have decided to sell a product or offer a service, you must consider how much you are willing to spend on marketing and advertising. Just because you have a good product or service, it does not mean that people will seek you out. As a business, you must find the best ways to target your potential audience. Buying advertising is not difficult, but targeting your potential customer can be so you should consider the many ways to do so. With online marketing, you can target your customer by analyzing who is clicking what online and find ways to get your ad seen by these people that are buying a similar product or service. This tactic will save you time and money and you will not waste nearly as much in the way of resources if you do the advertising correctly. There are often not enough funds in your marketing budget for a full-fledged marketing campaign, so you may have to start off small to get a loyal local customer base first and eventually branch out.
Companies that are trying to get off of the ground are trying free samples as way to increase business. Giving away free samples is a win-win for the customer as they have no obligation to buy anything and they may find a product that they really like. An organic soda company is taking full advantage of the free sample tactic by driving around and offering samples of their twelve different types of sodas. The customer has the choice of buying the product down the road, but at least the company is allowing people to see how much they like it. Not only does that increase sales, but it also a good way to field test products. If many people dislike a soda, maybe they will need to rethink the formulation or if one is a big hit, maybe they will need to focus on that particular flavor. The free samples create greater brand awareness as people will pay attention to who is giving them the free stuff. This also works when giving out free samples of an unrelated product. One solar company is doing that by giving out ice pops that were frozen using solar power. The potential customer enjoys the pop and they remember the brand name. If they need or want solar power, they are most likely to call that particular company as they had a good experience with them.
Whether you use the free sample route or go full bore with a marketing campaign, it is best to assess your potential audience and try your best to target specific segments. That way, you can use the extra money in your marketing budget for other endeavors. There are so many things to organize and fund with a business that the extra money will be useful, so do your best and don’t waste your money as you may regret it down the line. People aren’t spending like they used to, so conserve wherever you can is the best strategy.
