Is it Time for a Tune Up?

When is the last time that you looked at your business from a customer’s standpoint? Are you in line, price-wise, with your competitors? Or, are you simply not aware of your presence in your sector. Just like a car, your business needs a tune up every once in a while to make sure that things are on track and that you are maximizing your potential.

Attracting new clients, communicating with current clients and creating a buzz around your products and services should be your main priorities. You never know if you are doing the right thing unless you analyze your progress every once in a while. Wasting your time going down the wrong path can cost you time and money, so ask yourself these three important questions when you step outside of the box and look at your company with fresh eyes.

1. Do you have a good reputation?
Your reputation is important. If it is good, you may gain customers through word-of-mouth, but if it is bad, you could lose customers. Speak to former customers and ask them what they liked and did not like about your product or service. Reaching out could lead to even more business, so maximize this potential and ask for their business once again.

2. Is your target audience still with you?
Analyze your target audience to see if you are still providing them with what they need. As a business owner, you are filling a need, so you may have to make slight adjustments as the needs of your target audience changes. Ask outsiders to look at your marketing efforts including your website to see if some tweaks are in order. Staying current and ahead of the trends in marketing and social media is an essential aspect of growing your business.

3. Are you exposing your business through the proper channels?
Look at your competitor’s social media efforts and think about what you are doing with social media as well. Are you targeting the right people? Is your company visible in social media circles? All of the marketing you do should be focused on creating a buzz around your product or service, so take the time to develop your social presence. Focus and re-focus after determining what works and what does not.

Always remember that the business world evolves at a fast pace and it is your duty as a business owner to keep up with trends. Although many say that if it’s not broke, don’t fix it, you never know what changes may result in better profits and more exposure.
